Associate Professor and Program Director of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Houston, as well as founding Executive Director of the International Qur’anic Studies Association (IQSA). He is author of The Qur’an and the Aramaic Gospel Traditions (Routledge, 2013), co-author of A History of the Classical Middle East (Cognella, forthcoming), editor of Communities of the Qur’an (OneWorld, forthcoming), and contributor to Forbes, The Houston Chronicle, The Christian Science Monitor among other media outlets. He teaches courses on Islamic Civilization as well as the modern Middle East, and consults for the private and public sector.
