Mohammed Hocine Benkheira is Director of Studies in the Religious Studies section at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris (Sorbonne), where he holds the chair in “The Formation of Legal Doctrines and Ritual in Islam from the Seventh Century to the Fifteenth Century.” He has published L’amour de la Loi. Essai sur la normativité en islam (1997) and Islam et interdits alimentaires. Juguler l’animalité (2000). His most recent book, La maîtrise de la concupiscence. Mariage, célibat et continence sexuelle en islam, des origines au XVe siècle will come out during the second half of 2016.
