Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly for Syro-Malabars, he was ordained a priest in 1972. He holds a B.A. in Economics from St. Berchman’s College, Changanacherry, Kerala and a M.A. from the Pontifical Institute of Theology and Philosophy, Aluva. He took his doctoral degree in Biblical Theology from the Sorbonne University. He was made a Cardinal on February 18, 2012.
