Leïla Babès is Professor of Sociology of Religion at Lille Catholic University and also has a doctorate in Political Science. Her research focuses on religion and female devotion, Islam and secularization in France, human rights and women, and political power and violence. The latter is the subject of her book L’utopie de l’Islam. La religion contre l’État (2011). Pursuing her research in the theological-political vein and the issue of salvation, Babès is currently working on Jesus’s status in Islam.
