He obtained his PhD in Religious Studies from the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris (Sorbonne). He was professor of Philosophy and chargé de conférence at the EPHE from 2015 to 2018. He is Research Fellow at the CNRS in Paris. His research focuses on Imamite Shi‘ism as it relates to philosophy and Sufism. He is the author of numerous academic articles, as well as Histoire de la sagesse et philosophie shi’ite (Le Cerf, 2016), and the co-editor of Shi‘i Islam and Sufism: Classical Views and Modern Perspectives (I.B. Tauris, 2019, with Denis Hermann).
