Vittorio Citterich, was born in Salonica on 22 June 1930, of a Greek mother and an Italian father. He grew up in Florence and graduated in law at a Faculty where Prof. La Pira taught Institutions of Roman Law. As a journalist at the Giornale del Mattino of Florence, he followed in particular the Christian initiatives of the mayor that city, Giorgio La Pira (whom he accompanied on a large number of other journeys, in particular to the Middle East). He followed Vatican Council II for the Catholic daily newspaper Avvenire d'' Italia. From 1967 to 1970 he was correspondent for the RAI in Moscow. Director of the news service of the first television channel, envoy, and the author of investigations and special services, he was head of religious information at the news service of the first television channel. He took part in the first stage of the foundation of the weekly Il Sabato. He is the author (together with Stanislaw Grygiel) of Un Papa sull''orizzonte del Duemila (1979), Un Santo al Cremlino, Giorgio La Pira (1986), and Professore mi ricordo (1991).
